All physicians with LRA are licensed and board certified by the American Board of Radiology. They work within the Department of Radiology at Lancaster General Hospital. The radiologist issued a detailed report to your referring physician who requested the imaging study.
Why did I get a bill from LRA? I already received a bill from Lancaster General Hospital for this service?
The charge from LRA was for the professional services of the radiologist who read your imaging study. This is called the professional component charge. The charge from LGH was for the services of the technologist, equipment use and any other medical supplies needed to perform the study. This is called a technical component charge.
How will I know if my insurance will cover the radiology study?
It is the patient’s responsibility to contact your insurance carrier to get any preauthorization needed for coverage of certain procedures. If you are scheduled for an MRI through the MRI Group you will need to provide a separate insurance authorization for that procedure.
